Can I recover MetaMask without the recovery phrase?
If the encrypted vault still exists on the device, it remains a recovery target; remembered password details can narrow the search. Without the vault and without the phrase, nothing remains to search.
Does uninstalling MetaMask delete my vault?
Normally yes. The vault lives in the browser profile; recovery after uninstall depends on surviving profile files or a full-disk backup.
Some accounts are missing after restore. Did I lose them?
No. MetaMask re-adds accounts in order and stops at the first account with zero ETH; add the funded accounts further down manually.
Can MetaMask be recovered with only part of the phrase?
Possibly. MetaMask’s Secret Recovery Phrase is BIP-39, so feasibility depends on its length, the number and positions of unknown words, the known words and other reliable constraints — and a surviving encrypted vault opens a separate, password-based route. We check candidate phrases safely against an address you already know, and we can reconstruct phrases with up to four missing words.

Forgotten MetaMask password
MetaMask keeps your wallet in an encrypted vault on your device, and your password is what decrypts it. With the Secret Recovery Phrase you can reset the password yourself. Without the phrase, the original vault is the recovery target: we test candidate passwords against a copy of the vault data, built around what you still remember. MetaMask cannot reset or reveal the password, and a surviving vault does not mean the password can always be found. Forgot your MetaMask password?
Invalid or incomplete Secret Recovery Phrase
MetaMask checks every word against the 2,048-word BIP-39 list and the phrase's checksum, so one misspelled or swapped word usually gets the phrase rejected. A misspelled word or a swapped pair is often fixable. When words are missing or unreadable, we search those positions systematically and reconstruct phrases with up to four missing words, testing each candidate against the checksum and an address you know. Uninstalled MetaMask by mistake
Removing the extension or clearing browser data normally deletes the vault from the browser profile. A copy can survive in a profile or full-disk backup, or as remnants on the drive until new data overwrites them. Stop using the computer the moment you realize what happened, and do not reinstall MetaMask or run clean-up tools. Forgotten password on a Google, Apple or Telegram login wallet
Signing in again with Google, Apple or Telegram does not reset a forgotten MetaMask password, because these wallets open only with the login and the password together. First check whether MetaMask Mobile still opens the wallet with biometrics you enabled earlier, such as Face ID: MetaMask documents that this still lets you reset the password. Preserve that installation and secure the available recovery information before resetting or reinstalling anything. The assessment then establishes which route remains. Broken computer or lost phone
The funds stay on the blockchain. With the phrase you restore MetaMask on a new device yourself; without it, a computer that no longer starts can still hold the vault on its drive, and we work from an image of that drive.
MetaMask states that vault recovery on Android and iOS is not currently possible, so a lost phone needs the phrase, a social login with its password or another installation that still opens. With none of these and no surviving drive data, there is nothing to search. Wallet on a broken computer
Restored wallet shows the wrong or empty accounts
A phrase MetaMask accepts can still open an empty-looking wallet. A typo that passes the checksum restores a different wallet, the funds may sit under another phrase or an imported private key, or a phrase from another wallet may use a derivation path MetaMask does not offer: for imported phrases it supports only the default BIP-44 path. Common mistakes to avoid
- Don't reset MetaMask, reinstall the extension or clear browser data before you have a verified recovery route. A reset removes the wallets and accounts from that installation, and the vault may be the only material left.
- If MetaMask was uninstalled or the vault deleted, stop using that computer for anything else right away.
- Don't share your password or Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone claiming to be "MetaMask support." MetaMask never asks for it. How to spot MetaMask scam emails
- Don't enter your password or phrase into any online "recovery" tool or website.
- Don't respond to "recovery agents" who contact you after you have posted about losing access. This is often a second scam.
- Never send vault files, the phrase or the password through a contact form. The assessment needs only a general description of what remains.
Information that helps the assessment
- Whether the computer, browser profile or phone where MetaMask was installed, or a copy of its drive, is still available.
- How the wallet was created: with a Secret Recovery Phrase, or with a Google, Apple or Telegram login.
- What you remember about the password: length, structure, character set and patterns.
- How many words of the Secret Recovery Phrase you still have, and roughly which positions are missing. Describe them; don't send the words.
- A wallet address you know the wallet used, for example from an old transaction or an exchange withdrawal.
- What happened, and what you have already tried.

Tell us what happened
Share the wallet or software name, approximate year, device, problem and what material still exists. Do not send a seed phrase, private key, password, wallet file or ID document.
Initial feasibility view
Once we have enough information, we usually explain the likely recovery route, the main uncertainties and an initial indication of duration.
Verify and agree

Good to know about MetaMask recovery
- Password, vault and phrase. The MetaMask extension stores your wallet in an encrypted vault inside the browser's local storage. Your password decrypts that vault, and the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase sits inside it. The vault key is derived from the password with PBKDF2, which makes every password guess deliberately slow.
- Google, Apple or Telegram login. MetaMask documents a two-of-two arrangement: the wallet opens when you authenticate with the login provider and supply your existing MetaMask password. The phrase still exists, backed up online in encrypted form, and the key that decrypts it is split into shares that only come back together when both are given. Protect that password as carefully as a recovery phrase.
- More than one phrase. MetaMask generates a 12-word English phrase and can also import a 24-word phrase from another wallet. One installation can hold several phrases side by side, so importing another does not remove the first. Resetting the wallet is what destroys the existing vault.
- Back up while you still have access. If MetaMask still opens, back up your phrase and export any imported private keys now, before the device, profile or drive fails. MetaMask private keys explained

MetaMask wallet recovery FAQ
Can MetaMask support reset my password or phrase?
No. MetaMask is non-custodial: it cannot read your password, vault or Secret Recovery Phrase, so its support team has nothing to reset. Anyone posing as MetaMask support who asks for your phrase or password is running a scam.
Does the Secret Recovery Phrase restore imported accounts?
No. The phrase restores the accounts derived from it. Accounts imported with a private key or a JSON file need that key or file, and hardware wallet accounts come back when you connect the device again. MetaMask's backup and sync feature does not cover them either.
How long does MetaMask recovery take?
A password search with a strong list of hints may finish within days. A broader search, a phrase reconstruction or a case that starts with recovering the vault from a wiped drive can take several weeks. The assessment gives you an estimate for your case before any work starts, and we keep you updated while the work runs.
How much does crypto wallet recovery cost?
It depends on the wallet's value and how complex the case is: our success fee runs from 20% of the recovered amount down to 2%. The exact rate is agreed in writing before any work starts — no hidden costs and no hourly rates.
Do you take custody of the assets at any point?
No. We restore access; you open the wallet and move the funds yourself. We cannot initiate a transaction on your behalf.
Do I need to send my seed phrase or password?
No — first contact needs no sensitive material, and we never ask for it through forms or chat. Under a written agreement we can work with copies of wallet files in a controlled environment, so your keys stay under your control.
What if my wallet was stolen or I was scammed?
We do not take stolen-crypto or scam cases, and blockchain transactions cannot be reversed. That is a police and legal matter.
