Quick answers

What is the Mycelium backup?

HD accounts use a BIP-39 seed; Single Address accounts use a PDF backup with a password. Which one you have decides the route.

Why does my restored wallet show zero?

Check the account type and address format: Single Address balances do not appear in an HD restore and vice versa.

Can an old phone help?

If only the old phone remains, stop using it. It is evidence now: the wallet file or backup may still be readable from storage.

Our Mycelium recovery services

Invalid or incomplete Mycelium recovery phrase

Mycelium's HD accounts are backed up by a 12-word master seed from the standard BIP-39 word list. A misspelled, swapped or missing word usually makes the restore fail; when a wrong phrase happens to pass, it opens a different, empty wallet. We reconstruct phrases with up to four missing words. Feasibility depends on which positions are known, how legible the remaining words are and whether a known receiving address can confirm the result. Recover a missing seed word

Restored Mycelium wallet shows zero balance

A clean restore can still look empty. Mycelium's own help lists the usual causes: the PIN typed in as a passphrase, which opens a different, empty wallet; coins in a second account that has to be recreated; and coins beyond the 20-address gap limit, which its Boost Gap Limit option widens to 200 addresses once. We check every account, address type and a wider gap against an address you know. Zero balance after a restore

Single Address account or old PDF backup

A Single Address account holds one fixed Bitcoin address with its own standalone private key; its funds live under that key, not under the HD phrase. Its backup is the Encrypted PDF Backup: the key as an encrypted QR code, plus a random 15-character password with a checksum, shown only once. That password uses only the letters a to z, so a few missing or illegible characters leave a small search, and a faded QR code is a similar constraint problem. A password lost entirely cannot be searched in useful time. Wallet backup formats explained

Forgotten Mycelium PIN

The PIN only locks the app on one phone; it is not a backup and protects nothing on the blockchain. With the seed, or the PDF and its password, a fresh install restores access. If the PIN was set as resettable, Mycelium can also remove it after a waiting period; otherwise the app says the only option is to recover from your backup. Until every account has a backup, don't uninstall the app or clear its data: that installation may hold the only copy of the keys. What a forgotten Mycelium PIN means

Mycelium on an old or broken phone

If the app or its data survives on an old phone, it may still hold the keys. If the app still opens, back up every account at once, Single Address accounts included, and verify the backup. Extraction from the phone's storage is sometimes possible on older devices; modern Android phones encrypt their storage, so unless the phone can be unlocked, that route usually stays closed. Before you contact us

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Don't uninstall the app, clear its data or reset the phone before every account has a verified backup.
  • Don't type your PIN into the passphrase field when restoring. A normal Mycelium backup never includes a passphrase, and a wrong one opens a different, empty wallet.
  • Don't enter your seed phrase or PDF password into a website, "checker" tool or form.
  • Don't trust any social media account that claims to represent Mycelium or its support. The company says it uses no social networks at all, so every such account is an impersonator.
  • Download Mycelium only from the official app stores or Mycelium's own website.
  • Never share your full 12 words or the PDF password with anyone, including us, to get an assessment.

Information that helps the assessment

  • Which account types you used: HD accounts, Single Address accounts or both, and roughly when you created the wallet.
  • What remains of the 12-word phrase, including words you are unsure of. Describe it; don't send the words.
  • Whether you have the PDF backup, and how much of its 15-character password is still legible.
  • Whether the old phone still exists, still turns on, and whether the app still opens.
  • A receiving address you used, and the coins or tokens the wallet held.
  • What you have already tried, such as restores into Mycelium or another wallet.

Boundaries

What we do not do

  • Theft, scams or a wrong address

A confirmed blockchain transaction cannot be reversed, cancelled or redirected, by us or by anyone.

  • A completely lost recovery phrase

With no phrase, wallet file, device, backup or partial information left, there is nothing to reconstruct from.

  • Guaranteed outcomes

No honest service can guarantee success. Whether recovery is possible depends on what you still have, and the assessment tells you before you commit.

We tell you honestly what is realistic before you commit — including when the answer is no.

How it works

A clear process from first contact to handover.

  1. Tell us what happened

Share the wallet or software name, approximate year, device, problem and what material still exists. Do not send a seed phrase, private key, password, wallet file or ID document.

  2. Initial feasibility view

Once we have enough information, we usually explain the likely recovery route, the main uncertainties and an initial indication of duration.

  3. Verify and agree

We verify identity and ownership or legal authority. Scope, working method, fee and sensitive-material handling are agreed in writing before sensitive work begins.

  4. Transfer or hand over material

PGP, our secure encrypted upload environment, in-person handover or agreed shipment may be used. We request only what is needed and work with copies where possible.

  5. Technical recovery

We test the agreed recovery route in a controlled environment. You receive meaningful updates when findings affect the outlook, scope or next decision.

  6. Client-controlled handover

Access is handed back through the agreed route. You open the wallet and move the assets to a wallet you control; case material is then handled according to the agreement and privacy policy.

Good to know about Mycelium recovery

  • One master seed, two kinds of account. All Bitcoin HD, Ethereum and ERC-20 accounts come from the same 12-word master seed. Single Address accounts are separate: each needs its own private key or PDF backup.
  • Address types. Mycelium HD accounts can hold coins on legacy (BIP44), SegWit-compatible (BIP49) and native SegWit (BIP84) addresses. Restored into a wallet that scans only one of these, the right phrase can still show an empty wallet.
  • Old backups and formats. Mycelium has changed formats over the years. Single Address backups are encrypted PDFs, not word lists; the HD master seed is a 12-word BIP-39 phrase, and the restore screen also accepts 18 and 24 words. If the backup was made years ago, identifying which format it belongs to is the first step.
  • No server-side reset. Mycelium is self-custody, and the app has no server-side reset. Its support can answer questions about the app, but it cannot restore a wallet or reset access.

Mycelium wallet recovery FAQ

Can I restore my Mycelium recovery phrase in another wallet?

Yes. The master seed is a standard BIP-39 phrase, so other BIP-39 wallets accept it. The balance appears only if that wallet scans the same accounts and address types, and Single Address accounts never come back from the phrase.

Can you recover my Mycelium password?

The Mycelium wallet has no account login to reset. People usually mean the app PIN, which only locks the app on one phone; the 15-character password of an Encrypted PDF Backup; or the 12-word phrase, which restores HD accounts without any password. If a few characters of the PDF password are missing or illegible, a search over the missing characters is sometimes possible.

Can I recover a Mycelium wallet without the recovery phrase?

Sometimes. A PDF backup restores its Single Address account, a phone that still holds the app may hold the keys, and a phrase with up to four missing words can be searched. With no seed, no PDF and no device data, there is nothing left to work from.

How long does Mycelium recovery take?

Simple cases, such as one wrong or missing word, often resolve within days; several missing words or a partly illegible PDF password can take weeks. After the free assessment you get a realistic estimate for your case.

How much does crypto wallet recovery cost?

It depends on the wallet's value and how complex the case is: our success fee runs from 20% of the recovered amount down to 2%. The exact rate is agreed in writing before any work starts — no hidden costs and no hourly rates.

Do you take custody of the assets at any point?

No. We restore access; you open the wallet and move the funds yourself. We cannot initiate a transaction on your behalf.

Do I need to send my seed phrase or password?

No — first contact needs no sensitive material, and we never ask for it through forms or chat. Under a written agreement we can work with copies of wallet files in a controlled environment, so your keys stay under your control.

What if my wallet was stolen or I was scammed?

We do not take stolen-crypto or scam cases, and blockchain transactions cannot be reversed. That is a police and legal matter.

Start your recovery

The assessment is free and needs no sensitive material. Describe what you still have and we will review whether recovery is realistic. You only pay if the recovery succeeds.
