forgot ledger pin

If you forgot your Ledger PIN, don’t try to guess it: doing so could wipe your device to factory settings. You only have three tries before the device erases all data. If you’ve already tried once or twice and still have an attempt or two left, find your 12-word seed phrase to fully restore your wallet and reset the PIN.

If your seed phrase is invalid or incomplete, you may need professional crypto recovery services like Crypto Recovers to reconstruct the missing parts.

What Happens When You Forgot Ledger PIN

The Ledger PIN is designed to protect your device locally. It ensures no one can access it without your permission. A Ledger PIN is 4 to 8 digits long. It contains numbers only and no letters or symbols.

The bad news: you will nit be able to recover it if you lose it. After three unsuccessful attempts, the device wipes itself and deletes all private keys. You’ll need to use your recovery phrase to get back into your wallet and access your funds. However your crypto is safe. This is because your assets are on the blockchain, not on the device.

Forgot Your Ledger PIN but Still Have the 24-Word Recovery Phrase?

Even if the PIN is lost, you can still access your assets with the 24-word recovery phrase.

We recommend getting a new Ledger device so you can safely enter your recovery phrase without resetting the old device, just in case your seed phrase turn out to be invalid as well.

Steps to recover your Ledger wallet if yiu can’t remember your PIN:

  1. Get a new Ledger device.
  2. Choose the option “Restore from recovery phrase.”
  3. Enter the 24 words exactly as you received them, without typos.
  4. Set a new PIN.

What If Both Your PIN and Seed Phrase Are Missing?

If both your PIN and seed phrase are invalid, the situation is critical: you will not be able to get your crypto funds.

We recommend thoroughly searching all possible locations for your seed phrase: from password managers and emails to old notebooks or hidden drawers. The 24-word recovery phrase is the only way to retrieve your funds from a Ledger device.
