Lost your SecuX passphrase and can’t access your hidden wallet?
That’s the special feature of hidden wallets — even if you have your 24-word seed phrase, you still can’t open it without the passphrase. This feature adds an extra layer of security to your wallet… and an extra headache when you forget the passphrase.
You can try to recall your SecuX passphrase yourself — or turn to a wallet recovery service like Crypto Recovers.
What Is a SecuX Passphrase & How to Set It Up
If you want to get back your lost SecuX passphrase, you first need to understand what it is and how it works.
The SecuX passphrase is a user-chosen string of characters. It can include letters, numbers, and symbols, usually between 6 and 12 characters long. Some people call it the “25th word.” Without the correct passphrase, you won’t be able to access your hidden wallet—even if you do have the correct 24-word recovery phrase.
The good news? Even if someone gets hold of your 24-word recovery phrase, they still can’t access your hidden wallet without the passphrase.
If you’re ever forced to reveal your wallet (for example, in a robbery), you can show the basic SecuX wallet—while your real funds stay safely hidden in the passphrase-protected one.
How to set up a passphrase on your SecuX hardware wallet
You can set up a passphrase on your SecuX hardware wallet (such as the V20, W20, or W10) during or after the initial wallet setup. You need to enable advanced security features manually, as the passphrase option is not turned on by default.
Here’s a step-by-step algorithm to set up a SecuX passphrase after the wallet is already set up:
- Turn on your SecuX device by pressing and holding the power button until the SecuX logo appears.
- Enter your PIN to access the main dashboard.
- Go to “Settings.”
- Tap “Security” from the settings menu.
- Find and select the “Passphrase” or “25th Word” option. Tap ON to enable custom passphrases.
- Enter your custom passphrase. We advise you to choose something secure but memorable.
- Re-enter the same passphrase to confirm. After confirmation, the wallet will generate a new, hidden wallet.
You’re now inside a separate wallet.
What to Do When You’ve Lost Your SecuX Passphrase
It sounds trivial, but if you’ve lost your passphrase, the first thing to do is stay calm. Check if you have any backups of the passphrase. Look through all your records and check any password management tools.
If you’ve lost your SecuX passphrase and there is no backup, don’t worry. We advise you to make a passphrase hint list with all the possible combinations. Start by writing down any words, phrases, or numbers you commonly use in passwords — birthdays, favorite places, pet names, or nicknames.
Think about your habits:
- Did you use uppercase letters, special characters, or numbers?
- Is it something you’ve used in other wallets or accounts?
- Did you use a variation of an old password?
This brainstorming exercise can often trigger your memory, and one small clue might lead you back to the correct passphrase.
“My crypto wallet is so secure, even I can’t break into it — shoutout to my terrible memory for passwords!” – Unknown
Remember: you can only restore your hidden wallet using your seed phrase plus the passphrase. SecuX devices do not store your passphrase—not even temporarily. That means it’s entirely up to you to remember it. If you forget it, there’s no way to access your hidden wallet.
Recovery Options for a Forgotten SecuX Passphrase
If you’ve already tried to recall all possible variations of your passphrase and still haven’t succeeded, reach out to us at Crypto Recovers for help.
Different passphrases create different wallets from the same 24-word seed. That means if you test variations or guesses, you’re opening valid but unrelated wallets—usually empty unless used before.
To recover your SecuX passphrase, we’ll use your passphrase hint list to brute-force the correct one with our SecuX passphrase recovery tools. Depending on the complexity, brute-forcing may require millions, billions, or even trillions of guesses. By providing your most likely combinations, you help us reduce the time spent on trial and error.
Interesting fact: The passphrase is case-sensitive and space-sensitive. Even a tiny typo will generate a valid (but empty) wallet, and there will be no error messages.
By reviewing your case closely and narrowing down the options, we boost your chances of recovering your SecuX wallet passphrase.
