Quick answers
What recovers a Toast wallet?
The backup code plus the wallet passphrase. The code is the route, not the discontinued app.
Can app data help if the code is lost?
Yes, if the old device still has the app data: a Ripple secret can sometimes be extracted from it without the code.
Why does my restored account show zero?
An unactivated XRP account shows zero until funded; activation needs the base reserve.
Our Toast recovery services
Forgotten Toast passphrase
Toast encrypted the wallet with a passphrase you chose, which had to include letters, a number and a symbol. If the six-word recovery phrase survives, it can stand in for the passphrase. Without it, we test candidates against a copy of the backup code or the app data. If you remember only part of the passphrase, that still helps: remembered details focus the search, and every variant you recall, including near-misses in spelling or word order, narrows what it has to test. Forgot your wallet password?
Toast six-word recovery phrase
Toast's six words are a second passphrase, not a wallet backup; its own setup screen called them useless without a backup. Together with the backup code or the app data, they reset a forgotten passphrase or PIN. On their own, they cannot recreate the XRP account. The words are short, random, made-up words that alternate consonants and vowels, not BIP-39 words, so one misspelled or illegible word leaves a small search. How the six-word phrase works
Toast backup code rejected or damaged
The backup code is an encrypted, Toast-specific container, not a phrase or key that another XRP wallet can import. A code retyped by hand, reformatted or cut short can fail to import; Toast itself repairs some of that damage. We work on an exact copy, correct formatting damage where the encrypted data survives, and open it with the passphrase or the six words. Missing or overwritten encrypted data is a different problem. Corrupted wallet file
Toast app on an old phone or computer
If Toast still opens, the app holds the wallet: Backup Wallet in Settings exports a fresh backup code, and Show Secret reveals each account's Account Secret once you enter the passphrase. A forgotten PIN can be reset with the passphrase or the six words. If the app no longer opens, don't uninstall it or clear its data. The Account Secret, also called the Ripple secret, can sometimes be recovered from old app data without the backup code; opening it still takes the passphrase, the six words or a search. Restored Toast account shows zero or is missing
A backup code only contains the accounts that existed when it was exported, and restoring it brings back the PIN, passphrase and six words of that moment. If an account is missing or empty, look up its public address on the XRP Ledger before assuming anything: the ledger, not the app, holds the balance. Zero balance after a restore

Common mistakes to avoid
- Don't retype the backup code by hand. Copy and paste it, and keep the original notes untouched.
- Don't uninstall Toast, clear its data or reset a device that ran it before the wallet data has been copied.
- Don't type the backup code, passphrase, six words or Account Secret into a website that offers to "check" or "validate" them.
- Don't download Toast from a look-alike source. The original project on GitHub is published as ToastWallet; a copy under a hyphenated name appeared in August 2026 with its own installers, and anything sold as a "new official Toast Wallet" is fake.
- Don't trust anyone offering Toast support or a reset.
- Never share your backup code, passphrase or six words with anyone, including us, to get an assessment.
Information that helps the assessment
- Which items you still have: the backup code, the passphrase, the six-word recovery phrase, an Account Secret.
- Whether a phone or computer that ran Toast still exists, and whether the app still opens.
- Everything you remember about the passphrase, including variants and near-misses. Describe it; don't send it.
- When the backup code was made, and whether you added accounts or changed the passphrase afterward.
- The public address of your XRP account, if you have it.
- What you have already tried.
Boundaries
What we do not do
Theft, scams or a wrong address
A confirmed blockchain transaction cannot be reversed, cancelled or redirected, by us or by anyone.
A completely lost recovery phrase
With no phrase, wallet file, device, backup or partial information left, there is nothing to reconstruct from.
Guaranteed outcomes
No honest service can guarantee success. Whether recovery is possible depends on what you still have, and the assessment tells you before you commit.
We tell you honestly what is realistic before you commit — including when the answer is no.
How it works
A clear process from first contact to handover.
Tell us what happened
Share the wallet or software name, approximate year, device, problem and what material still exists. Do not send a seed phrase, private key, password, wallet file or ID document.
Initial feasibility view
Once we have enough information, we usually explain the likely recovery route, the main uncertainties and an initial indication of duration.
Verify and agree
We verify identity and ownership or legal authority. Scope, working method, fee and sensitive-material handling are agreed in writing before sensitive work begins.
Transfer or hand over material
PGP, our secure encrypted upload environment, in-person handover or agreed shipment may be used. We request only what is needed and work with copies where possible.
Technical recovery
We test the agreed recovery route in a controlled environment. You receive meaningful updates when findings affect the outlook, scope or next decision.
Client-controlled handover
Access is handed back through the agreed route. You open the wallet and move the assets to a wallet you control; case material is then handled according to the agreement and privacy policy.
Trust
A real company with a verifiable process.
Registered & named
Registered in the Netherlands (KvK 75927276) with a named team and a physical office in Amsterdam.
A written agreement first
Scope, fee and security measures are agreed in writing before any work. If you prefer, we can sign an NDA before you share substantive case details.
Always non-custodial
We restore access; you move the coins yourself. We never hold, manage or transfer your assets.
Ownership is verified
Identity, ownership and legal authority are verified with risk-based KYC/AML checks.
Good to know about Toast recovery
- Three secrets, one wallet. In Toast's own words, the backup is the actual wallet; the passphrase and the six words are the keys that open it. The 6-digit PIN only opens the app on one device. The address by itself gets you nowhere: the XRP Ledger cannot restore an account from its address alone.
- Account Secret. Preserve the original backup and credentials before importing any Account Secret into another wallet.
- No vendor support. Toast is discontinued and kept its data only on your devices, so there is no vendor support or reset. With no backup code, no Account Secret and no device data, nothing is left to recover from.
- Destination tags. A missing destination tag on an exchange deposit is a routing issue for the exchange's support, not a wallet-recovery case.
Toast wallet recovery FAQ
Did I lose my XRP when Toast Wallet shut down?
No. Toast's developers removed it from the app stores in June 2020 and no longer maintain it, but the wallet was non-custodial. Your XRP stayed on the XRP Ledger; what needs recovering is access.
Can I recover my Toast wallet without the backup code?
Sometimes. An Account Secret restores its account in a compatible XRP Ledger wallet, and an old device or device backup may still hold Toast's app data. The six-word recovery phrase alone cannot recreate the account.
Can I import my Toast Account Secret into another XRP wallet?
Yes, into a maintained XRP Ledger wallet that supports that key format. Import each account's secret separately and check that it shows the same public address. No other wallet can import the backup code itself.
How long does Toast wallet recovery take?
A formatting repair or a reset with surviving six words is usually a short job. A passphrase search can take days to weeks or longer, depending on how much you remember. After the free assessment you get a realistic estimate for your case.
How much does crypto wallet recovery cost?
It depends on the wallet's value and how complex the case is: our success fee runs from 20% of the recovered amount down to 2%. The exact rate is agreed in writing before any work starts — no hidden costs and no hourly rates.
Do you take custody of the assets at any point?
No. We restore access; you open the wallet and move the funds yourself. We cannot initiate a transaction on your behalf.
Do I need to send my seed phrase or password?
No — first contact needs no sensitive material, and we never ask for it through forms or chat. Under a written agreement we can work with copies of wallet files in a controlled environment, so your keys stay under your control.
What if my wallet was stolen or I was scammed?
We do not take stolen-crypto or scam cases, and blockchain transactions cannot be reversed. That is a police and legal matter.
