Depending on the case, the work may involve analysis, password recovery, reconstruction of recovery information, file repair, preparation of recovered wallet data for client-controlled migration, data recovery, hardware diagnosis or selected physical hardware wallet repairs. Travel, security arrangements, costs, responsibilities and the exact technical assignment are documented in advance. The network may support specialised computing, data recovery, cybersecurity, legacy wallet formats, legal coordination and international case management. For suitable password or additional-passphrase cases, Crypto Recovers can scale through internal capacity and specialised suppliers to a network of more than 100 GPUs. Such costs apply only when they have been clearly agreed in advance. ## Identity, Ownership, KYC and AML Crypto Recovers works only for lawful owners, legal heirs and demonstrably authorised representatives. Before accepting a case, Crypto Recovers verifies the client’s identity and relationship to the wallet, estate or business concerned. The compliance process is designed around applicable requirements of the Dutch Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft), the GDPR and the Dutch GDPR Implementation Act, known as the UAVG. Where a Wwft obligation applies to an activity, Crypto Recovers follows the required risk-based process. Even where a specific statutory Wwft duty does not apply to an individual technical assignment, Crypto Recovers uses its own risk-based KYC and AML controls for security and integrity purposes. Verification may include: - a valid identity document; - historical wallet, purchase or transaction records; - known public addresses or transaction identifiers; - the original device, wallet file, email records or backup information; - a certificate of inheritance, will, executor appointment or other estate document; - company documents and valid authority for a business wallet; - a signed explanation of the source and ownership history of the assets; - sanctions, wallet, blockchain or source-of-funds screening where appropriate. A request may be refused, suspended or terminated when ownership or authority cannot be established, information is contradictory or suspicious, source of funds cannot be adequately explained, sanctions or criminal risks exist, the work may involve unlawful access or the requested activity would require a licence or authorisation that Crypto Recovers does not hold. These controls do not make Crypto Recovers a law-enforcement agency, bank or crypto tracing provider. Crypto Recovers cannot guarantee that every statement made by a client is accurate. ## Recovery Agreement, NDA and Written Records Technical work begins only after the assignment and conditions have been documented. The recovery agreement normally addresses: - the wallet, equipment and specific technical assignment; - the allocation of responsibilities under the non-custodial process; - available files, devices, hints and recovery information; - the recovery objective and definition of success; - the success fee and any separately agreed expenses; - risks associated with physical repair or damaged storage media; - confidentiality and processing of sensitive recovery information; - retention and deletion periods; - liability, termination and applicable Dutch law. Recovery contracts and relevant process documents have been drafted or reviewed by legal counsel. An NDA is available for suitable sensitive private, corporate, international and inheritance cases and may be signed before detailed confidential information is shared. Following every successful technical recovery, Crypto Recovers issues an invoice and written confirmation of the work performed. The confirmation may be retained for the client’s records or provided to an accountant, tax adviser, notary or lawyer. ## Security and Sensitive Information Clients should never send a complete recovery phrase, private key, additional passphrase, wallet password or other secret wallet information through an ordinary contact form, social-media message or unsolicited email. A first assessment requires only non-secret information about the wallet type, the access problem and what material remains. Relevant security principles include: - **Data minimisation:** process only information necessary for the agreed recovery route; - **Need-to-know access:** restrict sensitive case information to authorised participants; - **Secure transfer:** exchange technical material only through an agreed secure channel; - **Offline processing:** isolate password and passphrase research from public networks where technically appropriate; - **Non-custodial execution:** the client retains control and independently performs any transaction; - **Limited retention:** delete sensitive recovery data when the work is complete or retain it only as contractually and legally required; - **Preservation of originals:** preserve original wallet files and storage media where possible and work from copies; - **Controlled hardware repair:** begin physical work only after the objective, risks, costs and available backups have been discussed. Encrypted backups may retain residual fragments for up to 30 days before automatic deletion. No technical environment can be guaranteed to be completely risk-free; the method and remaining risks are assessed per case. ## Recovery Process 1. **Confidential initial request:** the client describes the wallet, problem, circumstances and remaining information without sending secret recovery data. 2. **Feasibility assessment:** Crypto Recovers determines whether a realistic and lawful recovery route exists. 3. **Identity and ownership verification:** the client provides identification, ownership evidence and, where relevant, estate or business-authority documents. 4. **Recovery agreement and optional NDA:** the assignment, definition of success, fee, risks, non-custodial structure and data handling are documented. 5. **Secure working arrangement:** the parties select remote guidance, work at the Amsterdam office or assistance at an agreed location. 6. **Technical recovery:** work may involve password or passphrase research, recovery phrase reconstruction, file repair, preparation for client-controlled migration, data recovery or selected physical hardware wallet repair. 7. **Verification:** restored access or repaired functionality is appropriately verified while the client retains control. 8. **Post-recovery security:** the client secures the wallet and independently carries out any necessary transaction. 9. **Invoice and closure:** the client receives an invoice and written technical confirmation. Crypto Recovers does not recover forgotten hardware wallet PINs or local unlock codes. - A **device password** is a product-specific term that may refer, for example, to local BitBox device unlocking. It is not the same as an additional passphrase, and Crypto Recovers does not recover forgotten local device passwords. - A **recovery phrase, seed phrase or wallet backup** contains information from which wallet keys can be derived. A completely lost recovery phrase or private key cannot be recreated without other usable access information. - An **additional passphrase**, informally called a “25th word”, combines with the recovery phrase to derive a different wallet, often called a hidden wallet. It does not need to be a dictionary word. Crypto Recovers may investigate a forgotten or partially known additional passphrase when reliable hints and verification data remain. A screen or USB repair restores physical functionality and does not change a PIN or cryptographic protection. Additional-passphrase recovery is a separate cryptographic investigation. ## More Than Password Testing Professional wallet recovery can require combined knowledge of: - blockchain networks and the distinction between coins, tokens and addresses; - wallet architecture, file formats and encryption methods; - recovery phrases, private keys and hierarchical deterministic wallets; - standards such as BIP32, BIP39, BIP44 and SLIP-39; - derivation paths, account structures and address generation; - transaction history and known public addresses; - legacy software, historical wallet generations and migration problems; - hardware wallets, hidden-wallet passphrases and physical device defects; - digital forensic analysis and data recovery; - cybersecurity and secure post-recovery setup. A wallet that does not synchronise requires a different response from a wallet with a rejected password. An apparently valid recovery phrase may derive addresses on a different path. A wallet file may be corrupted rather than incorrectly encrypted. A visible address may be watch-only and contain no private key. Crypto Recovers therefore first identifies the wallet format, generation, blockchain network and actual access problem. Toast’s recovery phrase is not a BIP39 seed phrase, and its passphrase is not the same as a BIP39-style additional passphrase used to derive a hidden wallet. Support for a cryptocurrency does not imply that every wallet product, version or malfunction involving that network can be recovered. ## Physical Ledger and Trezor Repair Physical repair is a separate technical service and may include: - replacement of a defective or unreadable display; - repair or replacement of a damaged USB port or connector; - diagnosis of power, connectivity or visible physical damage; - restoration of sufficient device functionality for the lawful owner to work safely with the device again. Feasibility depends on the exact model, damage, prior repair attempts and availability of suitable parts. Not every device can be repaired safely. No. Crypto Recovers does not recover forgotten PINs or local device unlock codes for Ledger, Trezor, BitBox or other hardware wallets. Crypto Recovers may: - investigate a forgotten or partially known additional passphrase when sufficient hints and verification data are available; - restore a wallet using a valid backup or recovery phrase; - replace a defective screen on selected Ledger or Trezor models; - investigate and repair selected physical damage such as a damaged USB port or connector. An additional passphrase for a hidden wallet is not the same as the device PIN. ### Does Crypto Recovers handle both Blockchain.info and Blockchain.com? Yes. Crypto Recovers investigates non-custodial Blockchain.info and Blockchain.com wallet cases from different generations. The possible recovery route depends on technically useful information such as an encrypted backup, recovery mnemonic, wallet file or password hints. Wallet IDs, original email addresses and public addresses can support identification or verification but do not decrypt the wallet by themselves. Crypto Recovers does not recover custodial Blockchain.com Trading Accounts. ### Does Crypto Recovers recover cryptocurrency lost to a scam? No. Crypto Recovers restores technical access to non-custodial wallets. It does not retrieve transferred cryptocurrency, investigate scams or trace stolen funds. ### Does Crypto Recovers take custody of cryptocurrency? No. The service is non-custodial. The client retains control and independently carries out any transaction. ### Can Crypto Recovers repair a Ledger or Trezor device? Sometimes. Crypto Recovers can assess screen replacement and selected physical defects such as damaged USB ports or connectors on certain models. Feasibility depends on the model, damage, previous repair attempts and parts availability. ### Can a specialist work at the client’s location? Yes, when appropriate and agreed. Crypto Recovers can work at a client’s home, business premises, professional adviser’s office or another controlled location. International visits may be discussed for larger or complex cases. ### Is recovery guaranteed? No. Feasibility depends on the wallet type, encryption, remaining information, condition of files or hardware and size of the search space. ### When does the client pay? For an eligible No Recovery, No Fee case, the agreed success fee becomes due only after the contractually defined recovery has succeeded. Separately agreed travel, parts, hardware repair, data recovery, specialist or compute costs follow the written agreement. ### Is an NDA available? Yes. An NDA may be signed before detailed information is shared for a suitable sensitive case. ### Can an independent escrow provider be used? Yes. Crypto Recovers has a contractual relationship with an independent Swiss escrow provider. Involvement is possible only when appropriate and separately agreed.
